Adiabatic humidification uses significantly less energy than electric steam humidification. Adiabatic humidification uses cold water. The water is misted into the air and absorbed using the latent energy in the air itself in the form of heat. The only energy costs are those used to dispel the water vapour, and sometimes additional heating costs to offset the cooling effect. Steam humidification however requires a lot of energy as the water has to be converted to steam before being released into the air. In this way adiabatic humidification saves at least a third on your energy bills.
